Great customer service! Your competitive advantage that won’t cost you a dime!

“To give real service, you must add something which cannot be bought or measured with money, and that is sincerity and integrity.” Donald A. Adams

In these trying times, it’s easy to get caught up in the battle over price. The reality is the majority of the time a customer’s price “push back” is more an indictment of your company and how you are perceived by them, then the price itself. I believe there is very little difference between reality and perception but if you can eliminate the gap, you will be successful the majority of the time. Sure you may not be the biggest outfit in town, with the most sales reps, the fanciest offices or the largest marketing budget but you can overcome all that just by following through with “Great Customer Service.” The best part about that is it shouldn’t cost you a dime. So from this day on, I challenge you all to treat your customers the same way you’d treat a young child; with a smile. No matter how bad your day is, encourage them through supportive conversation, listen to them, celebrate their success and validate their complaints. The good ones will love you for it and the ones that don’t care; well you shouldn’t have done business with them in the first place. Remember! Your goal is to win, as in “win them over, ”not win like a competition. Enough rambling from me; I’m off to yell at my kids!

Have a great month.

Oh! My quote this month is:
“The two most overrated things in life are the joy of natural child birth and the pleasure of owning your own business” -From a restaurant sign somewhere in SC
